The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints held a joint practice yesterday in preparation for Thursday’s preseason game, and received a visit from a special guest.

Jon Bon Jovi, a good friend of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and lead singer of the aptly titled band ‘Bon Jovi,’ made an appearance and chatted with Belichick and Saints head coach Sean Payton.

No, your eyes do not deceive you. That is a smile on the face of Bill Belichick, which is to my knowledge the first piece of photographic evidence revealing the Patriots head coach does feel emotion.

According to Payton, it was during a Bon Jovi concert in Dallas that Saints GM Mickey Loomis called and offered him the Saints head coaching job, which he promptly accepted.

This year’s NFL Hall of Fame class contained a new record of seven inductees, including John Randle, who has the most sacks by a defensive tackle in NFL history.

The previously undrafted stud has taken his talents elsewhere since his enshrinement. It seems as though you can win the help of John Randle and his super powers by playing the Minnesota lottery, along with having your vehicle break down on the way to a Vikings game.

After watching these two commercials I’m certain of one thing: If a movie of Randle’s life is ever made, it will star Michael Clarke Duncan. Of course I don’t think Duncan can relate to Randle’s comedic touch.

Access Hollywood correspondent Maria Menounos is known as being a die-hard Boston Celtics fan, but last night we found out she is capable of doing much more than just watching sports.

Prior to the Hall of Fame game, the NFL preseason opener between the Bengals and Cowboys, the Madden NFL 11 ‘Pigskin Pro-Am’ was held on NBC.

There was a mixture of celebrities and former athletes on both teams, but it was Menounos who came away with the MVP, sacking Kurt Warner in the process.

Quinton Aaron, aka Michael Oher from The Blind Side, and The Office star Craig Robinson provided some bulk for each team. Jerry Rice and Joe Montana along with Warner came through with the veteran support.

Samuel L. Jackson may be one of the most powerful people in the entertainment industry, so when he tells you to do something, you do it. When he tells you to jump you not only ask how high, but which direction.

So, Atlanta Falcons fans, when Samuel L. Jackson tells you to “Rise Up,” you subsequently “Rise Up,” because that’s what Falcons do, isn’t it? They rise up. Just watch the video, complimented by a synchronized choir.

Theroot.com recently compiled a list of “The Blackest White Folks We Know,” which contained names such as Madonna, Bill Clinton, Robert Downey Jr., etc.

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher also made the cut, and according to the magazine it was because “in an era when most of the notable white NFL players are quarterbacks and kickers, Urlacher stands out as one of the most well-known and successful linebackers in NFL history.

Fox News TV personality Glenn Beck was included as well, and decided to go on his show and analyze the list, with a display set up of pictures of each person included.

Beck tried to pick out the faces he recognized, and arriving at the photo of Urlacher he commented “I think this guy is a neo-nazi.” Watch the video here, the last one on the bottom.

Urlacher may look the part of a thug, but he is known to be active in the community as well as frequently volunteer for the special olympics.

Beck has since apologized, although I’m not sure if that will do the comment justice in the eyes of Urlacher. Let’s just say Beck should be thankful he doesn’t live near Chicago.

Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens may be filming reality TV shows for VH1 during the offseason, but Randy Moss is chilling out from all the drama.

In 32 degree weather with his new friends, Rockhopper penguins.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Moss’s first thought after seeing the walrus was to throw a Patriots jersey on him. An extra 2,200 pound lineman never hurts.

Playing in New England must have prepared Moss for the below-freezing atmosphere. I’m sure coach Belichick would have enjoyed it.

Fresh off the 18th annual ESPYs, where New Orleans Saints  quarterback Drew Brees won four awards, including best male athlete, it was announced that the football stud’s new book will debut at Number 3 on the New York Times best sellers list.

The book, titled “”Coming Back Stronger,” was released on July 6. Brees will go on a book tour that will consume only three days but include eight appearances in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Brees has certainly done his fair share in promoting the book, appearing on Good Morning America, Fox’s Hannity, ESPN, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The book also contains a foreword from Mark Brunell, a former quarterback of the Saints.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, is known to be an attention-getter for his style of handling football operations.

Now that attention shifts to television, as he appeared on the latest episode of HBO’s “Entourage,” where he converses with actor Jeremy Piven. Watch the clip below.

Adidas has released the “miCoach,” which apparently gives you coaching tips as you work out.

Super Bowl champ Reggie Bush of the Saints and World Cup finalist David Villa of Spain make an appearance in the commercial, as well as Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose.

Looks like Reggie isn’t too broken up over losing Kim Kardashian to Miles Austin.

When it comes to  the NFL, Kyle Boller doesn’t exactly carry the best title as the Oakland Raiders’ third string quarterback, but the former first round bust finally has something to brag about.

On Friday in San Diego, Boller wed with former Miss California/USA winner Carrie Prejean, who had her crown taken from her last year for an alleged contract breach.

Yes, this is the same Miss USA who got into a verbal sparring with, we’ll go with the title “professional gossiper”, Perez Hilton over the subject of gay marriage, which she believes led to the loss of her Miss USA title.

No word on whether or not Raiders’ owner Al Davis was in  attendance at the wedding, but the chances of him actually knowing the name of his third string quarterback are minimal at best. Must have taken him long enough to memorize “Darrius Heyward-Bey”.
